Growth, not perfection
I have made growth my habit. It’s not something that I just strive for – I live by this principle every day.
I was born in San Diego, California, in 1992. I am the son of immigrants who gave it all for me to have a chance at a better life. A son of two resilient warriors who inspire me to face life with tenacity and a steadfast dedication to find peace and be still along the journey.
Although English was not my first language and I grew up without luxury or abundance, I followed the American dream and struck gold in my career. I climbed the ladder in higher education, and I climbed it fast. Then one day, I questioned why?
Why was I spending all my time at work, consumed by stress and neglecting the relationships that filled my cup. Why was I pursuing titles and degrees while forsaking the precious moments that were passing by. Why was I consumed by planning the perfect future when the present moment cried out for attention. I began to focus on living a meaningful life with a greater capacity to be resilient and grow resilience in others.
My deepest passion is pouring into others. I've served in various roles in the non-profit world, in higher eduction, in ministry - all opportunities to be in relationship with others and be transformed by their stories. Today I have the privilege of teaching at Point Loma Nazarene University, where I seek to inspire, empower, and transform the lives of all my students and the people I serve with. I am also the Faithful Scholar, who seeks to be faithful to what matters...
